Sound Tank
|
Sound
Tank was set up to provide a focus for quality, original music where
bands get to play their own material and get paid fairly.
It has been steadily building support and has hosted some great
songwriters and bands including Lou Rhodes, Nemo Jones (Faithless), The
Hat, The Big Hairy Band, Mab, Mountain Fireworks Company, Martin
Harley, Alison David, the debut gig from Jon Thorne's Oedipus Project,
a warm up for their appearance at the London Jazz Festival 2005, and
most recently a special night from Kingston collective WupaDupa whose
string ensemble performed with songwriters from both collectives.
Sound Tank recently attracted Brighton and Hove Arts Commission
Grassroots funding to produce a sampler CD of nine collective bands.
Musicians in the collective lend their skills to each other’s
projects, creating a network from which recording and live
collaborations grow.

The Hat

Making mini musical
movies for mind, ears and soul ThE HaT will guide you through twisted
tales set against the sound track of drums, double bass and guitar,
beat box, trumpet and trombone, piano, foley and lush harmonies... and
that's just the 4 of them !
A combination of stories to melt your mind and songs to bend your
heart. Think Tom Waits reading Roald Dahl over a soundtrack composed by
Danny Elfman, played by the Beastie Boys and you'll almost be half way
there!

Martin Harley |
"Fusing inspired blues,
jazz and rock into their sound, this hard-touring trio are revealing
themselves as shining talents in the British acoustic scene. Harley
himself brings formidable guitar skills to the table ........ and his
smoky but soulful voice provides the perfect expression for these laid
back and highly contagious songs. " Guitarist Magazine, April 2006
